Black Opal is darker in colour compared to Milky, Crystal, and Boulder varieties, because it forms on blackstone. These deposits are only found in small areas in Australia, which makes Black Opal hard to find.
Black Opal is more valuable when more colours are visible running through the stone.
The most elusive strain is red. Most black opals are mined in Lightning Ridge, in New South Wales.
All Black Opals are part of our collection.
